Collection: CAU Rita

Rita Cau, the daughter of Italian immigrants, grew up in the Loue Valley in Ornans, a natural setting dear to Courbet, which awakened in her a thirst for expression and a constant questioning of the world. From her native Sardinia, she retains the warmth of colors and the softness of summer evenings, influences that still nourish her artistic universe.

Since her beginnings in 1970, she has explored different mediums – gouache, watercolor, pencil or pen sketches, posters, travel journals, acrylic on wood – before finding in oil on canvas, in 2012, the material and consistency necessary to give substance to her emotions. Her works reflect a coherent blend of her past experiences, where each touch seeks to bring light, color and movement to life and feel.

Rita Cau also experiments with textures and media, often inspired by nature, to reinforce the symbolic and poetic dimension of her creations. Her paintings invite an inner journey, a dialogue between the sensible and the visible, offering the viewer the opportunity to encounter their own emotions. Her painting is both intimate and universal, full of vitality and lightness, celebrating the beauty of life and the power of sensations.
