Collection: BECHARA DAOUD May (1953-2019) (Major Exhibition 2026)

A French-Syrian painter, May Bechara Daoud developed a body of work profoundly marked by travel, encounters, and dialogue between cultures. Her artistic journey was built through numerous stays around the world, particularly in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, where each country enriched her sensibility and nourished her pictorial research.

Her visual language moves away from representation to explore emotion, memory, and inner resonance. Colors, transparencies, textures, and movements compose spaces where past, present, and future intersect. Her painting invites the viewer into a contemplative experience, allowing each person to construct their own interpretation of the work.

Also an artist who wrote texts and poetry, May Bechara Daoud conceived of creation as a universal language capable of transcending borders. Her work is structured around themes such as identity, roots, transmission, spirituality, and the relationship between humanity and nature.

The works presented today testify to the richness of this artistic quest. They reveal a sensitive and demanding painter whose universe continues to touch others through its depth, poetry, and openness to the world.
