Collection: HASKINS Jo
The artist has been based in Devon, England, and Embrun, in the Southern Alps, France. She trained at Portsmouth College of Art and studied painting at the City and Guilds of London Art School. She graduated with a BA (First Class Honours) in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking from the Arts University, Plymouth, where she is currently pursuing an MA in Painting. She was shortlisted for the 2022 Freelands Painting Prize and the 2022 CVAN Platform Graduate Award. She also received the 2022 Fresh Talent Award from Brownston Gallery, where she recently exhibited. Jo has exhibited extensively throughout the Southern Alps and the South of France.
Now Jo lives in Mayenne, much to our delight.
Her practice is inspired by the experience of a space within a landscape. Currently, this is Svalbard, in the High Arctic. Sharing the experience of total immersion in the vastness of the Arctic, she translates the interactions of colors and shapes as light reflects off the ice and sea.
However, a floral series had previously been created, and these are the paintings that will be presented. Remember to be curious; the works are only visible on the gallery floor and nowhere else.
