Alain Retière is a self-taught artist whose pictorial universe is part of a sensitive and luminous approach to contemporary figuration. Born in Nantes in 1954, he discovered painting at a very young age thanks to an old box of oil paints, the starting point of a vocation that has remained intact over the years. Enriched by his travels and his attentive gaze on the world, his work explores urban landscapes, ports, scenes of life, and maritime atmospheres with great compositional finesse.
