Christine Verdet develops a sculptural universe deeply rooted in nature, which forms the living heart of her artistic approach.
Her long immersions in forests and along coastlines fuel a sensitive observation of the animal world and its materials. As an animal sculptor, she explores a varied bestiary ranging from polar species to savannah animals, not forgetting everyday companions.
Each work seeks to reveal an attitude, an emotion or a moment of life, oscillating between power, fragility and tenderness. Clay modeling allows her to translate the animal's personality with an approach that is both instinctive and controlled. The Raku technique, combined with glazes, raw or smoke-fired clays, gives her pieces a strong expressive intensity.
